The Bartensleben сastle is a baroque palace in the Saxony-Anhalt region. Nowadays, it is an entirely modernised hotel that belongs to the luxury segment of accommodation and service. There are not only 32 apartments but meeting rooms, offices, lobbies, and kitchens available.
A picturesque, well-kept park built as a baroque garden at first and then renovated in 2008 surrounds the castle and provides it with stunning landscapes with unspoiled wild flora and fresh air.
Location
The Bartensleben сastle is located in Erxleben in the district Borde in the region of Saxony-Anhalt. The palace is surrounded by a wide moat on a palace island, to which a bridge leads.
History
The castle was built in the middle of the 18th century on the foundation walls of the former moated castle, which once had three outer castles. Existing parts of the palace were recycled, as seen from the dates 1471, 1567, and 1578 on various parts of the building. Then it was expanded and renovated by Heinrich Adrian von Veltheim with its western wings and a newly popular interior style - Rococo.
After the Second World War, all property was expropriated without compensation to the noble family by the Soviets; the family had to flee to the western occupation zone. The castle was first used as a women’s sanatorium “Clara Zetkin” and then as a retirement home until 1991. A significant part of the original substance, such as the staircase with the gallery, was removed or destroyed during renovations during GDR times.
Nowadays, it is sold as private property and modernised by its owners.
Reconstruction
During the reconstruction, a complete renovation of the property is going to be carried out. After the reconstruction, the ADN group plans to rent this property to organisations providing assisted care services for people in a comfortable, beautiful setting. The property will be available for purchase.
